/Interview with Rejoover Mitchel Martin-Weber - get to know a little more about this intriguing fellow. Mitch has just ticked an IRONMAN triathlon off his bucket list and is looking forward to Busso half ironman in May and wants a pb in the Florida ironman in November. He has been training with us for 7 years, he is the top in his mechanical engineering field and travels the world, he has been on our Rejoov training camp to Ayers Rock and is looking forward to our exciting new camp to Phuket coming up soon in May - http://rejoovrunners.com.au/running-events/thailand We still have spots available if you're keen to join us. Here he is back in 2009 doing the Sydney Olympic Distance triathlon.
1. At what age did you start running and triathlons?
Mitch: 8 years ago. I did my first triathlon in Queensland - it was an Olympic distance. I realized then you could train and travel and enjoy both.
2. What do you do for a living and how does training fit in with that?
Mitch: I am an executive director in a mechanical engineering distribution business. Sandshoes are easy to take when travelling and it’s always fun to run and get lost in foreign cities.
3. List some of your favourite running or tri experiences?
Mitch: ITU Sydney Olympic would have to be a highlight. My first half was in the Sunshine Coast with great people and a fun event. Drank too much after finishing which made the next day a bit miserable.
4. What were the highlights of your recent debut Ironman in Taupo, NZ in March 2016?
Mitch: The entire event was magic. Doing the training and being rewarded by a wonderful race day. Great people and didn’t drink much after the race.
5. Describe your favourite home cooked meal?
Mitch: Avocado, celery, capsicum & prawn salad with oil and vinegar - yummy!
6. When did you start with Rejoov and what do you enjoy about the training?
Mitch: I started training with Rejoov about 7 years ago. Greta took me under her wing and the girls at the time were very kind to me letting me run in the Friday women’s group [back when it was womens only but for the past few years it has been co-ed]. Our trip to Alice springs, [Western MacDonnell Ranges, Kings Canyon & Ayers Rock] was great fun. I enjoy the social aspect and the fact it’s fun – Greta doesn’t let anyone get away with anything. She’s tough!
7. Which events do you have coming up?
Mitch: Busselton 1/2 ironman, Cairns ½ ironman & Florida full ironman. Most weekends have some run, swim or bike event.
8. Can you share some health or training tips?
Mitch: Stretch daily and you want have any problems. Laugh at yourself, but not at others.
We wish you full health and happiness Mitch.
