Interview with Johnny
/Thanks Johnny Mac for your brilliant interview and quote! Good luck to you and wife Beck for your debut marathons in Berlin coming up at the end of Sept 2015:
1. At what age did you start running?
John: I did my first City to Surf when I was seven. I ran/walked with my dad and we stopped at Dover Heights to buy bread rolls because I got hungry.
2. What are some of your favourite running experiences?
John: Last year on our honeymoon we discovered a fun run while we were in New York. We ran a 5k from Manhattan across the Brooklyn Bridge. Also, training for my first marathon this September has been a terrific and challenging experience, made all the better by training with the Rejoov team.
3. What's your favourite home cooked meal?
John: A close competition between a Thai beef salad and tomato based chicken pasta. I also love a sour Granny Smith apple!
4. When did you start with Rejoov Runners and Run with us online marathon program?
John: 2015
5. What do you enjoy about Rejoov?
John: Apart from the fact that training with Rejoov gets me out of bed when it's dark and cold, I love the positive feeling among the group. Everyone pushes each other to go faster and train harder, while not taking ourselves too seriously.
6. Can you share a health or training tip?
John: Every training session I tell myself I'm putting this hard work "in the bank." Then I hope to get my pay-out on race day when I've done the hard work in the lead up. Former boxing champion Joe Frazier said it best: "You can map out a fight plan or a life plan, but when the action starts, it may not go the way you planned, and you're down to your reflexes - that means your preparation. That's where your roadwork shows. If you cheated on that in the dark of the morning, well, you're going to get found out now, under the bright lights."
